Small Resin Planter Pots: Skull, Snake, Mushroom & Acorn

Handmade epoxy resin skull planter, one of our small resin planter pots

A tiny plant in a tiny pot can change the whole feel of a desk. One sprig of green beside your keyboard, a little air plant perched on a bookshelf, a faux succulent tucked between your favorite figurines, and suddenly the space feels lived in and a bit enchanted. Small resin planter pots are a simple way to bring that feeling home, especially when the pot itself has a personality: a grinning skull, a coiled serpent, a spotted mushroom, or a glossy little acorn.

At Rider Enchanted Studio, each of these pots is hand-poured and finished in our Utah studio, so color, translucency, and shimmer vary from piece to piece. Handmade variation is a feature, not a flaw. They are decorative pieces for teens and adults, not children’s toys, and like all resin décor they are happiest indoors, away from prolonged direct sun and extreme heat.

Why Choose Small Resin Planter Pots?

Most little planters are plain on purpose. They are meant to disappear so the plant can shine. A resin pot works the other way around. The pot is part of the display, so even a single stem or a bit of faux moss looks finished. On a crowded desk, that matters, because a three-inch footprint leaves room for your mug, your notebook, and your pens.

Small resin pots are also flexible. The same piece can be a planter this month and a ring dish or crystal keeper the next. If your plants tend not to survive your schedule, a faux succulent gives you the look with zero watering. And because each pot is poured by hand, the one you bring home is a small piece of art rather than something stamped out by the thousand.

The Skull Planter: Greenery With Attitude

Handmade 3-inch epoxy resin skull planter on a shelf, a small resin planter pot for gothic decor

If you like your houseplants with a little edge, start here. Our 3" Skull Planter is a sculpted skull form made to hold a small plant or faux greenery as a statement piece on a desk, shelf, or side table. A trailing sprig spilling over the top looks almost like hair, and a spiky little succulent gives it a punk-rock crown.

It was $42 at the time of writing. It sits naturally beside the rest of our skulls and dark fantasy pieces, and it is a fun pick for anyone who keeps their Halloween décor out all year. If you plant something live in it, use a liner and protect the furniture underneath from moisture.

The Snake Pot: A Serpent Guardian for Your Treasures

Handmade 3-inch epoxy resin snake pot with a coiled serpent, used as a mini planter or trinket dish

The 3" Snake Pot has a sculpted snake coiled around the vessel, like a little guardian watching over whatever lives inside. It works as a mini planter for small succulents, air plants, or faux greenery, and it is just as happy holding rings, crystals, coins, or tiny keepsakes.

It was $35 at the time of writing. The serpent motif suits witchy, gothic, celestial, and dark academia spaces, and it makes a striking accent on a tarot table or altar shelf. Small in footprint, bold in presence, it is the kind of piece people pick up and ask about.

The Mushroom Pot: A Little Piece of the Forest Floor

Handmade 3-inch epoxy resin mushroom pot with a lift-off translucent emerald cap and amber ribbed base

For a softer, cottagecore feel, the 3" Mushroom Pot is about three inches tall and comes in two pieces. A translucent emerald-green cap with molded spots lifts off a hollow amber base with vertical ribs. Light passes through the green cap beautifully. Our studio photos often use strong backlighting to show that glow, but no LED is included.

It was $33 at the time of writing. Use it as a desk catchall for crystals, jewelry, or pens, or as a mini planter with a liner, since it typically has no drainage hole. We featured it with tiny castles and crystal balls in our guide to witchy desk decor if you want more ideas for building a scene around it.

The Acorn Pot and Honey Pot: Small Woodland Keepers

Handmade 3-inch glossy epoxy resin acorn pot in a shimmering finish

The 3" Acorn Pot is a glossy, hand-poured acorn about three inches tall, available in Silver Gold & Purple or Emerald & Copper at the time of writing, for $32. It is a sweet woodland accent for a bookshelf or mantel vignette, and it pairs nicely with faux moss or a few dried sprigs. The shimmer varies from piece to piece, so each acorn has its own glow.

Its companion, the 3" Honey Pot, is a lidded jar with a removable domed lid and round knob, poured in metallic gold and copper with glitter and flake shimmer. It was also $32 at the time of writing. It is not a planter and it is not food safe, so please do not store honey or anything edible in it, but it makes a lovely dry catchall for small trinkets on a coffee bar or tiered tray. You can browse more woodland pieces in our nature collection.

How to Use a Small Resin Planter Pot With Live Plants

Resin pots like these are display pieces first, so a little planning keeps both the plant and the pot happy. The easiest approach is a liner: set the plant in a small plastic nursery pot that fits inside, then lift it out to water at the sink, let it drain, and drop it back in. That keeps standing water away from the resin and away from your furniture.

Light is the other thing to think about. Resin can yellow or fade with too much direct sun over time, so these pots are best somewhere bright but out of harsh, direct rays. That makes them a natural match for faux plants, air plants, and greenery that tolerates indirect light. Our guide on whether resin art can go in sunlight explains why placement matters.

For everyday care, wipe the pot with a soft cloth and skip harsh cleaners and soaking. If you want a fuller routine for dust and fingerprints, see our tips on caring for resin home decor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do small resin planter pots have drainage holes?

Our Mushroom Pot typically has no drainage hole, and the Skull Planter should be used with a liner for live plants. A small nursery pot inside works well, or you can skip watering entirely with faux greenery or air plants.

Can I use these pots for something other than plants?

Yes. The Snake Pot and Mushroom Pot both make great homes for rings, crystals, coins, pens, or tiny keepsakes, and the Honey Pot is designed as a dry catchall for small trinkets.

Are resin pots food safe?

No. The Mushroom Pot and Honey Pot listings both say they are not food safe, so keep food, honey, and liquids out of them. Treat all of these pieces as décor.

Can a resin planter go on a sunny windowsill?

It is best to avoid prolonged direct sun, which can cause resin to yellow or fade over time. A bright spot with indirect light is a kinder home for the pot.

A Simple Way to Choose Your Pot

Pick the pot that matches the mood of the room. If your shelves lean dark and dramatic, the skull or the serpent will feel right at home. If you love mossy forests and fairy-tale corners, the mushroom or the acorn brings that gentle woodland charm. Whichever you choose, give it a small green companion, real or faux, and let it become one of the little treasures that makes your space feel like yours.
